Calgary Drywall Installation Contractors

Drywall installation is a big job that needs to be done properly. It is important to pick the best drywall contractor you can find for your drywall installation project. We take all of our experience through our many years of drywall work and put it to good use to make sure your drywall sheets are hung properly with the most precision possible.

If drywall is not installed properly, it can create a plethora of problems later on in the process. Sheets that are screwed in too far from each other can leave gaps that are harder for mudders to fill. If sheets are not secured to the studs properly they will be loose and may run the risk of falling off. This is especially important for ceilings.

The corners of the walls need to be as close together as possible as well to ensure the corner beading can be put on easily and there are perfect right angles at all corners.

Drywall Installation and Finishing Steps

There are a few key steps involved in drywall installation. The process is simple, but it takes a skilled hand and a keen eye to put the final product on top of the studs. When your walls have been finished by an experienced drywall contractor, it will look seamless and beautiful. If it has been done by a less skilled contractor, you may be stuck with bumps and creases along the way.

Drywall Installation Steps:

  • Drywall Hanging: The first step in creating perfectly smooth walls in your home is to hang the drywall sheets. This is the most simple and easiest part of the process. However, when there are unique corners and angles in your home, it can be quite difficult for someone with no experience. The drywall sheets have to fit as close together as possible to make the taping and mudding easier. Ensuring that the drywall sheets are installed with as much precision and cleanliness as possible creates an easier job going forward.

  • Drywall Taping and Mudding: This is how all the edges and corners are connected together. Once the sheets are hung, the cracks between them and the drywall screw holes need to be filled. Drywall tape is used on the cracks to fill them in and create a perfectly smooth surface between the sheets. Then, smaller patches of mud are put over the top of the screw holes to smooth things out. This is generally done in three different steps with the drywall mud becoming lighter and thinner as you go.

  • Drywall Sanding: Once the sheets are hung and the mud is on the walls, it is time to sand away remaining imperfections before the painting stage. After mudding, there will always be little dips and creases that need to be smoothed out. If the sanding process is not completed with the utmost care, it will show in the final product.

  • Priming: Before the coats of paint go on, the wall needs to be primed. Primer helps give the wall a little bit of texture that allows the paint to hold on better. Priming usually happens on new walls instead of repainted ones.

  • Painting: The final stage is to cut in and roll the paint over the walls. This too is a fairly straightforward process but requires a skilled hand with an eye for detail to ensure that the lines are straight and there are no drips or roll marks on the walls.
